Schelin was also adept at sports including table-tennis, track and field, and snowboarding before opting to focus on football full-time. She has also played for Hällesåkers IF and Mölnlycke IF. With her father Kjell and mother Nina, she grew up in Kållered outside Gothenburg and began to play football for Kållereds SK along with her older sister, Camilla.
